New York University application deadlines for Fall 2027

1. Early DecisionNovember 1, 2026in about a month

   NYU Early Decision I application deadline

   This is NYU's binding early round. If you apply Early Decision I and NYU admits you, you're committing to enroll and to withdraw your applications everywhere else, so only use it if NYU is clearly your first choice. You'll hear back on December 15, much earlier than regular applicants. Note that the separate financial aid deadline is November 10, so submitting your application does not finish the job.

   If you miss it: Miss it and you lose the early round entirely. You'd have to apply Early Decision II by January 1 or Regular Decision by January 5, both of which put you in a larger and generally more competitive pool.

2. Financial aidNovember 10, 2026in about a month

   NYU financial aid application deadline, Early Decision I

   If you're applying Early Decision I and want any NYU scholarship or grant money, your CSS Profile is due by this date, nine days after your application itself. US citizens, permanent residents and federally eligible non-citizens also need the FAFSA, and New York residents should complete the state TAP application too. This is the deadline nobody reminds you about, and because ED I is binding you'd be locked into enrolling with a weaker aid package if you miss it.

   If you miss it: NYU says you "may not qualify for the same amounts or types of funds" if you apply late. Since ED I binds you to enroll, missing this means committing to NYU before you know what it will actually cost you.

3. Early Decision IIJanuary 1, 2027in about 3 months

   NYU Early Decision II application deadline

   Early Decision II is NYU's second binding round, and it's a good option if NYU became your top choice after the November deadline passed or if you were deferred or denied somewhere else in the early round. It's just as binding as ED I, so if you get in you're committing to enroll. You'll get your decision on February 15. Your CSS Profile is due January 10 for this round.

   If you miss it: Miss it and Regular Decision on January 5 is your only remaining route into NYU for fall 2027. You would also give up the admissions advantage that applying binding usually carries.

4. Regular DecisionJanuary 5, 2027in about 3 months

   NYU Regular Decision application deadline

   This is the standard, non-binding deadline and the route most NYU applicants take. If you're admitted you're free to compare offers from other schools before deciding. Decisions come out April 1. Be careful with the date, because January 5 is unusually early compared with the January 15 that many schools use, and it lands right after winter break.

   If you miss it: NYU does not take late first-year applications for fall entry, so missing January 5 means waiting a full year and applying for fall 2028 instead.

5. Financial aidJanuary 10, 2027in about 3 months

   NYU financial aid application deadline, Early Decision II

   Applying Early Decision II means your CSS Profile is due January 10, nine days after the application itself. Add the FAFSA if you're a US citizen, permanent resident or federally eligible non-citizen, plus New York TAP if you're a state resident. Because ED II is binding, getting this in on time is the only way to know what NYU will actually cost you before you're committed.

   If you miss it: Late aid applications may not receive the same amounts or types of funding. With a binding ED II offer you'd be obligated to enroll regardless of how thin the resulting aid package turns out to be.

6. CSS ProfileFebruary 1, 2027in about 4 months

   NYU CSS Profile and financial aid deadline, Regular Decision

   This is the aid deadline that catches most NYU applicants out. It sits almost a month after the January 5 application deadline, so it's easy to submit your application, feel done, and then forget this entirely. You need the CSS Profile using NYU's code 2785, and if you're a US citizen, permanent resident or federally eligible non-citizen you need the FAFSA too. NYU decides scholarship and grant money off the CSS Profile, so skipping it means no NYU aid at all.

   If you miss it: No CSS Profile means no consideration for NYU scholarships or grants, which at a school costing over $100,000 a year is the difference between affordable and impossible. NYU notes late applicants "may not qualify for the same amounts or types of funds."

7. HousingMay 1, 2027in about 7 months

   NYU housing application and payment deadline for fall admits

   Once you've accepted your NYU offer and paid your enrollment deposit, you'll be prompted to submit a $1,000 housing reservation payment and the online housing application. For fall admits both the application and the payment are due May 1. NYU housing in Manhattan is genuinely hard to replace, so treat this as a firm date rather than a soft one.

   If you miss it: Missing the deadline puts your on-campus housing at risk, and finding private housing in Manhattan on short notice is expensive and difficult.
