  1. Early Actionin about a month

University of Miami Early Action application deadline

Early Action is UM's non-binding early round, so you get an answer in late January without having to commit. It's the low-risk way to apply early, and EA applicants are considered for Premier Scholarships just like Early Decision I applicants. If your junior year grades and testing are ready, this is usually the best round to aim for.

If you miss it: Miss it and you drop to the January 5 Regular Decision deadline, wait until April 1 for a decision, and lose Premier Scholarship consideration.

  2. Early Decisionin about a month

University of Miami Early Decision I application deadline

This is UM's binding early round. If you apply Early Decision I and you get in, you're committing to enroll and to withdraw your other applications, so only pick it if Miami is clearly your first choice. You'll hear back in mid-December. Applying EDI also puts you in the pool for UM's Premier Scholarships on top of regular merit scholarships.

If you miss it: Miss it and you lose the December decision, the highest admit-rate round, and Premier Scholarship consideration. You'd be pushed to ED II or Regular Decision in January.

  3. Financial aidin about 2 months

University of Miami financial aid deadline for Early Decision I and Early Action applicants

If you apply EDI or EA and you want need-based aid, your FAFSA, CSS Profile, and tax documents are due two weeks after the application itself. This is the deadline students forget, because it sits after November 1 and nobody reminds you. UM sends your estimated aid offer along with your admission decision, so missing this means being admitted with no aid package attached.

If you miss it: Submit late and you risk losing institutional need-based grant aid for the year, which at a school costing roughly $99,000 a year can mean tens of thousands of dollars.

  4. CSS Profilein about 2 months

University of Miami CSS Profile deadline

UM requires the CSS Profile from every applicant who wants need-based aid, and it wants it from both your custodial and your noncustodial parent if your parents are separated. The date shown here is the Early Decision I and Early Action deadline of November 15; if you're applying ED II or Regular Decision, yours is January 5 instead. After you file, College Board's IDOC service will email you asking for signed tax returns and W2s, and those count toward the same deadline.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile means no institutional need-based aid from Miami at all, since UM states the Profile and tax documents are required for that consideration.

  5. Regular Decisionin about 3 months

University of Miami Regular Decision application deadline

This is the last chance to apply to Miami for fall 2027 and it's completely non-binding. Decisions come out on April 1, and every Regular Decision applicant is automatically considered for merit scholarships with no extra application. Watch the January 5 date carefully because your financial aid materials are due the same day.

If you miss it: Miss it and you can't apply to UM for fall 2027 at all. There's no rolling or late first-year round.

  6. Financial aidin about 3 months

University of Miami financial aid deadline for Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants

If you apply ED II or Regular Decision, your financial aid paperwork is due the same day as the application itself, not later. That means the FAFSA, the CSS Profile for both custodial and noncustodial parents, and your tax documents all have to be in on January 5. Don't leave the aid forms for after you hit submit on the Common App.

If you miss it: Filing after January 5 puts your institutional need-based aid at risk for the whole year, and UM only issues a confirmed aid offer after it reviews a completed file.

  7. Early Decision IIin about 3 months

University of Miami Early Decision II application deadline

Early Decision II is a second binding round for students who decide later that Miami is their top choice, and it's also useful if you want first-semester senior grades in your file. You'll get a decision in late February, well ahead of Regular Decision. Remember it's binding, so you have to submit the Early Decision Agreement through the Common App.

If you miss it: Miss it and your only remaining option is Regular Decision, which shares the same January 5 date but doesn't give you the ED II decision advantage or the February answer.

  8. Depositin about 7 months

University of Miami enrollment deposit deadline

Once you're admitted under a non-binding plan, you hold your seat by accepting the offer and paying a $500 nonrefundable deposit through your UM Applicant Portal. The standard date is May 1, but the date printed on your own admission letter is the one that actually governs, so read it. If money is the obstacle, UM has a deposit waiver you can request by email.

If you miss it: After the deposit date on your letter passes, UM only accepts deposits on a space available basis and will withdraw remaining offers once it hits its enrollment target, so you can lose your spot outright.
