William & Mary Early Decision I application deadline
This is W&M's binding Early Decision I round, so if you're admitted you commit to enrolling and withdraw your other applications. You submit through the Common App, and it's due by 11:59 p.m. in your own time zone. Supporting pieces like transcripts, test scores and recommendations can still arrive after the date, but your own application can't. Only apply ED I if W&M is clearly your first choice and your family is comfortable committing before you can compare aid offers.
If you miss it: Miss it and you lose the Early Decision I admission-rate advantage entirely. Your only remaining options are ED II or Regular Decision, both due Jan. 5, and you'd be competing in a much larger pool.

William & Mary CSS Profile priority filing date (Early Decision I)
W&M requires the CSS Profile on top of the FAFSA for any need-based institutional aid, and for Early Decision I the Profile is due two weeks after your application. File the CSS Profile by Nov. 15 and add the FAFSA as soon as you can, since W&M's school code for the Profile is 5115. This is what lets W&M send you an aid estimate close to your early December decision. The Profile costs money to submit and W&M doesn't offer fee waivers for it, so budget for that.
If you miss it: W&M states plainly that applications received after these dates will not be guaranteed grant consideration, and institutional grant funds are limited. Practically, you could be admitted ED I, be bound to enroll, and still have no aid estimate in hand.
- Regular Decisionin about 3 months
William & Mary Regular Decision application deadline
This is W&M's standard, non-binding application deadline, and it's the route most applicants take. Your Common App has to be in by midnight in your time zone on Jan. 5, though transcripts, recommendations and test scores may follow after. Decisions are posted to your Application Status Portal by April 1. Because it isn't binding, you can compare W&M's offer against other schools before deciding.
If you miss it: There's no later round after this one for fall 2027 entry, so missing Jan. 5 means waiting a full year. W&M will consider extension requests only when circumstances were genuinely outside your control, emailed to admission@wm.edu.

William & Mary Early Decision II application deadline
Early Decision II is W&M's second binding round, and it shares the Jan. 5 date with Regular Decision. It gives you a fall semester of senior year grades before you commit, but the commitment is just as binding as ED I. You'll hear back in early February. Choose this over Regular Decision only if W&M is your top choice, because you'll be agreeing to enroll before you see other schools' aid packages.
If you miss it: If you file after Jan. 5 you can't be considered in the ED II round at all. You'd also miss Regular Decision, since both close the same day, which would shut you out of the fall 2027 entering class.

William & Mary FAFSA and CSS Profile priority date (Early Decision II)
If you apply Early Decision II, W&M wants both your FAFSA and your CSS Profile filed by mid-January so it can get you an aid estimate before your deposit is due. Because ED II is binding, this is the only window you get to see numbers before you're locked in. File both forms as soon as your family's tax information is ready rather than waiting.
If you miss it: W&M warns that late filers may not get an aid decision before the deposit deadline, which for ED II is Feb. 15. You would be committing to enroll without knowing what you'll pay, and grant consideration is not guaranteed after the priority date.

William & Mary FAFSA and CSS Profile priority date (Regular Decision)
This is the one almost nobody tells you about: W&M's need-based aid priority date falls almost a month after your application is in, and it's easy to submit the Common App on Jan. 5 and then forget the money forms. File both the 2027-28 FAFSA (code 003705) and the 2027-28 CSS Profile (code 5115) by Feb. 1. Both forms opened October 1, 2026, so you can do this well before the date. Missing it doesn't cost you admission, it costs you grant dollars.
If you miss it: W&M states in bold terms that applications received after these dates will not be guaranteed grant consideration, and that funds are limited. You can still file late, but you may end up choosing between schools on May 1 with no W&M aid number.

William & Mary financial aid final filing date (ED II and Regular Decision)
March 1 is the hard backstop for your FAFSA and CSS Profile if you applied Early Decision II or Regular Decision. It's not the target, the priority date is, but if you slipped past Feb. 1 this is the point at which you should stop procrastinating. W&M will still accept forms after March 1, but grant consideration is no longer guaranteed and your aid decision may not arrive before you have to commit.
If you miss it: File after this and you may reach the May 1 deposit date with no aid offer from W&M, forcing you to accept or decline blind. Limited institutional grant funds may already be committed to on-time filers.

William & Mary enrollment deposit deadline (Regular Decision)
If you're admitted Regular Decision, May 1 is when you confirm your spot by paying a non-refundable enrollment deposit. It has to be submitted electronically or postmarked by midnight in your time zone. This is the national candidates' reply date, so it's also your last day to compare W&M's aid offer against other schools. Make sure your aid package has actually arrived before this date, which is exactly why the Feb. 1 aid priority date matters.
If you miss it: Miss it and W&M can release your place to someone on the waitlist. The deposit is non-refundable once paid, so pay it only for the school you're actually attending.
