CSS Profile deadlines

31 verified CSS Profile deadlines, soonest first, starting October 1, 2026. Each date links to the school or agency page it came from.

What a CSS Profile deadline is

The CSS Profile is a second financial aid form, run by the College Board and used mostly by private colleges to hand out their own grant money on top of federal aid. It asks for much more detail than the FAFSA, including home equity and a non-custodial parent's finances at some schools, and it usually costs money to send unless you qualify for a fee waiver. There is no single national deadline: each college sets its own, and it is often the same day as that school's application.

If you miss one: A school that requires the CSS Profile will not consider you for its own grant money without one. That is the largest pot of aid at most private colleges, and missing it does not affect your admission decision, only what you are asked to pay.

  1. CSS Profilein 2 days

CSS Profile opens for 2027-28 aid year

The CSS Profile is a second, longer financial aid application run by the College Board (the SAT people), not the government. Roughly a few hundred mostly private colleges and scholarship programs require it on top of the FAFSA because it digs deeper into things like home equity, small business value, and non-custodial parent income, to award their own institutional money. College Board states that students file it starting on October 1 of senior year, and it is free for domestic undergraduate families with income up to $100,000; otherwise it costs $25 for the first college and $16 for each additional one.

If you miss it: Only applies if one of your colleges requires it, but at a college that does, skipping the CSS Profile means you are simply not considered for that school's own grant aid, which is often the largest single piece of an award letter.

  2. CSS Profilein about a month
    George Washington University

GW CSS Profile + FAFSA deadline for Early Decision I applicants

For GW's own aid you need both the CSS Profile (GW code 5246) and the FAFSA (GW code 001444). If you're applying Early Decision I, both are due November 1, the same day as the application.

If you miss it: Without the CSS Profile on time you are not considered for GW's own grant money, only for federal loans.

  3. CSS Profilein about a month
    Syracuse University

Syracuse CSS Profile 2027-2028 due - Fall 2027 Early Action

This school requires the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA to decide its own institutional aid.

If you miss it: Miss it and the school may not assess you for its own grants at all.

  4. CSS Profilein about a month
    Villanova University

    Villanova CSS Profile deadline

Villanova requires the CSS Profile on top of the FAFSA, and it's the form that actually decides your Villanova grant. It's due the same day as your application: November 1 for Early Decision I and Early Action, January 15 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision. Villanova's CSS Profile code is 2959. If your parents don't live together, both your custodial and noncustodial parent each have to file a separate Profile, so give them plenty of warning.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile means no institutional need-based aid at all, only federal loans. Skipping the noncustodial parent's Profile can hold up your entire aid package.

  5. CSS Profilein about a month
    Boston University

CSS Profile and FAFSA deadline for Early Decision

If you're applying Early Decision and you want need-based aid, your CSS Profile and FAFSA are due the same day as the application itself, not weeks afterward. Use CSS school code 3087 and BU's federal FAFSA code 002130, and put your Social Security number on the Profile, the FAFSA, and the Common App so BU can match your forms without delays. Because ED is binding, this is your only chance to see a real aid offer before you're locked in. BU recommends registering for the Profile two to three weeks ahead, so start in October.

If you miss it: You could end up admitted under a binding agreement with no financial aid package in hand, and BU-funded need-based grant aid may not be available to you at all.

  6. CSS Profilein about 2 months
    Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins, CSS Profile deadline for Early Decision I

The CSS Profile is a separate, more detailed aid form from the College Board that Hopkins requires on top of the FAFSA. Hopkins' school code for the Profile is 5332. For Early Decision I it's due November 15, 2026, two weeks after the application itself.

If you miss it: Without the CSS Profile on time you receive an admission decision with no need-based Hopkins scholarship attached.

  7. CSS Profilein about 2 months
    American University

CSS Profile + FAFSA deadline (Early Action / Early Decision I)

AU requires both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile (AU's CSS code is 5007) for need-based aid. Early Action and Early Decision I applicants must have both in by November 15, two weeks after the application itself.

If you miss it: AU states that missing the aid deadline makes it unlikely you will be considered for grants, leaving only federal loans.

  8. CSS Profilein about 2 months
    University of Miami

    CSS Profile deadline

UM requires the CSS Profile from every applicant who wants need-based aid, and it wants it from both your custodial and your noncustodial parent if your parents are separated. The date shown here is the Early Decision I and Early Action deadline of November 15; if you're applying ED II or Regular Decision, yours is January 5 instead. After you file, College Board's IDOC service will email you asking for signed tax returns and W2s, and those count toward the same deadline.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile means no institutional need-based aid from Miami at all, since UM states the Profile and tax documents are required for that consideration.

  9. CSS Profilein about 2 months
    William & Mary

CSS Profile priority filing date (Early Decision I)

W&M requires the CSS Profile on top of the FAFSA for any need-based institutional aid, and for Early Decision I the Profile is due two weeks after your application. File the CSS Profile by Nov. 15 and add the FAFSA as soon as you can, since W&M's school code for the Profile is 5115. This is what lets W&M send you an aid estimate close to your early December decision. The Profile costs money to submit and W&M doesn't offer fee waivers for it, so budget for that.

If you miss it: W&M states plainly that applications received after these dates will not be guaranteed grant consideration, and institutional grant funds are limited. Practically, you could be admitted ED I, be bound to enroll, and still have no aid estimate in hand.

  10. CSS Profilein about 2 months
    Syracuse University

Syracuse CSS Profile 2027-2028 due - Fall 2027 Early Decision

This school requires the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA to decide its own institutional aid.

If you miss it: Miss it and the school may not assess you for its own grants at all.

  11. CSS Profilein about 2 months
    Drexel University

Drexel CSS Profile deadline for Early Decision and Early Action applicants

Drexel needs the CSS Profile, a College Board form separate from the FAFSA, to consider you for its own need-based grants. Early Decision and Early Action applicants must submit it by November 25, just ten days after the application.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile by November 25 means no Drexel need-based grant consideration, and Drexel says it may even affect the admission decision.

  12. CSS Profilein about 2 months
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

UNC-Chapel Hill FAFSA + CSS Profile deadline (Early Action)

UNC requires BOTH the FAFSA and the CSS Profile, the CSS Profile is a separate, more detailed College Board form used to award UNC's own money. Early Action applicants must submit both by December 1 to be considered for all forms of aid.

If you miss it: Missing December 1 means you are not considered for the full range of UNC aid, including its institutional grants.

  13. CSS Profilein about 2 months
    Northwestern University

Northwestern CSS Profile deadline for Early Decision applicants

Northwestern requires the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA, and for Early Decision it's due December 1, 2026. This is a separate College Board form from the FAFSA, it asks for much more detail about your family's finances, and it usually carries a fee unless you qualify for a waiver. If your biological or adoptive parents are divorced or separated, both your custodial and your noncustodial parent each have to file their own separate Profile.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile means Northwestern cannot assess you for its own need-based scholarship money, which is the largest component of most aid packages here. The FAFSA alone only gets you federal aid.

  14. CSS Profilein about 3 months
    Wake Forest University

    Wake Forest CSS Profile deadline

Wake Forest requires the CSS Profile, not just the FAFSA, to award its own need-based scholarship money, and the school code is 5885. It's free if your family income is up to $100,000; Wake Forest does not give individual fee waivers beyond that. If your parents are separated or divorced, both parents have to file separate CSS Profiles, and you'll also need to upload tax documents to the College Board's IDOC service within about two weeks of filing.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile means no Wake Forest institutional grant money, which is where nearly all of the need-based aid at a $98,730 school comes from. The divorced-parent second filing is a common trap: your application can't be processed until the other parent's Profile arrives.

  15. CSS Profilein about 3 months
    George Washington University

GW CSS Profile + FAFSA deadline for Early Decision II and Regular Decision

For Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants, GW wants the CSS Profile and the FAFSA by January 5, the same day as the application. GW also collects prior-year tax returns and W-2s through the College Board's IDOC service.

If you miss it: Late aid forms mean your admission letter arrives with no GW grant offer attached.

  16. CSS Profilein about 3 months
    Syracuse University

Syracuse CSS Profile 2027-2028 due - Fall 2027 Regular Decision

This school requires the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA to decide its own institutional aid.

If you miss it: Miss it and the school may not assess you for its own grants at all.

  17. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins, CSS Profile deadline for Early Decision II and Regular Decision

Regular Decision and Early Decision II applicants must submit the CSS Profile by January 15, 2027, thirteen days after the application deadline, which is exactly why it gets forgotten. Hopkins requires both the Profile and the FAFSA from domestic families.

If you miss it: Miss January 15, 2027 and Hopkins cannot calculate a need-based scholarship for you, no matter how strong the admission decision.

  18. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    University of Notre Dame

    Notre Dame CSS Profile deadline

Notre Dame requires the CSS Profile on top of the FAFSA, and it's the form that actually drives your Notre Dame grant, so skipping it means no institutional aid no matter how good your FAFSA looks. Use school code 1841, and be ready for a noncustodial parent form if your parents are separated or divorced. Once you submit it, College Board's IDOC service will ask you for tax documents, so leave time for that second step. If you're applying Restrictive Early Action instead of Regular Decision, your date is November 15, 2026, not this one.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile means Notre Dame cannot calculate your need-based aid, so you'd be looking at the full sticker price of roughly $92,000 a year. Submitting late delays your aid offer rather than killing it.

  19. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    Drexel University

Drexel CSS Profile deadline for Regular Decision applicants

Regular Decision applicants to Drexel must submit the CSS Profile by February 1 to be considered for Drexel's institutional need-based grants. This is a separate form from the FAFSA and it happens after the January 15 application deadline.

If you miss it: Skipping the CSS Profile leaves you eligible only for federal and state aid, not Drexel's own grant money.

  20. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    Vanderbilt University

Vanderbilt CSS Profile deadline (Regular Decision)

Vanderbilt requires the CSS Profile, not just the FAFSA, to consider you for its own institutional aid, and that institutional money is the majority of what the university hands out. Use school code 1871. If you're applying Early Decision I your Profile is due November 1, 2026 instead, and Early Decision II applicants owe it by January 1, 2027.

If you miss it: Skip the CSS Profile and you're only in the running for federal aid, which at a school costing roughly $100,000 a year leaves an enormous gap. Filing it late can mean a smaller institutional grant than you'd otherwise have received.

  21. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    Duke University

    Duke CSS Profile deadline

Duke requires the CSS Profile from every undergraduate aid applicant, on top of the FAFSA, because it's what Duke uses to decide its own institutional grant money. It asks for far more detail than the FAFSA, including home equity, business assets and non-custodial parent information, so give yourself real time with it. The date shown here is the Regular Decision deadline. If you're applying Early Decision, yours is much earlier, on November 2, 2026.

If you miss it: Without the CSS Profile Duke cannot consider you for need-based institutional grant aid, which is the largest source of money at a school costing over $100,000 a year.

  22. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    New York University

NYU CSS Profile and financial aid deadline, Regular Decision

This is the aid deadline that catches most NYU applicants out. It sits almost a month after the January 5 application deadline, so it's easy to submit your application, feel done, and then forget this entirely. You need the CSS Profile using NYU's code 2785, and if you're a US citizen, permanent resident or federally eligible non-citizen you need the FAFSA too. NYU decides scholarship and grant money off the CSS Profile, so skipping it means no NYU aid at all.

If you miss it: No CSS Profile means no consideration for NYU scholarships or grants, which at a school costing over $100,000 a year is the difference between affordable and impossible. NYU notes late applicants "may not qualify for the same amounts or types of funds."

  23. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    American University

CSS Profile + FAFSA deadline (Early Decision II)

Early Decision II applicants to AU must submit the CSS Profile and the FAFSA by February 1. Because ED II is binding and the deposit is due March 1, getting the aid forms in on time is the only way to see the real price before committing.

If you miss it: Late aid forms mean an ED II admit commits to AU without a grant offer in hand.

  24. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    Northwestern University

Northwestern CSS Profile deadline for Regular Decision applicants

Northwestern requires the CSS Profile on top of the FAFSA, and for Regular Decision it's due February 1, 2027. It's a College Board form, separate from the FAFSA, and it goes deeper into your family's assets and circumstances. If your biological or adoptive parents are divorced or separated, your custodial and noncustodial parent each need to submit their own Profile, so give the noncustodial parent plenty of warning.

If you miss it: Skipping or missing the Profile cuts you off from Northwestern's own need-based scholarship, which is where the bulk of the money is. You'd be left with federal aid and loans only.

  25. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    Georgetown University

Georgetown CSS Profile + FAFSA deadline

Georgetown wants both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile by February 1, whether you apply Early Action or Regular Decision. The CSS Profile is a longer College Board form used to award Georgetown's own money. Send your federal tax returns by February 1 too.

If you miss it: Missing February 1 puts you outside Georgetown's need-based aid review, and Georgetown's aid is where most of the affordability comes from.

  26. CSS Profilein about 4 months
    Emory University

    CSS Profile deadline (Regular Decision)

Emory requires the CSS Profile, not just the FAFSA, to consider you for its own need-based grant money. Emory's CSS Profile code is 5187. After you submit it you'll get instructions to upload signed federal tax forms, W2s, 1099s and related schedules to the College Board IDOC service, and those documents are due on the same date. The Profile costs $25, but College Board fee waivers are available to eligible first-year students.

If you miss it: Skip the CSS Profile and you are simply not considered for Emory-funded need-based grants, no matter what your FAFSA says. That is the difference between federal loans and Emory grant dollars.

  27. CSS Profilein about 5 months
    Tulane University of Louisiana

Tulane CSS Profile deadline (Regular Decision round)

Tulane requires the CSS Profile on top of the FAFSA, and you cannot get any Tulane institutional need-based grant without it. Use school code 6832. February 15 is the date for Regular Decision applicants, but it moves much earlier if you apply early, so check your round: November 15 for ED I, December 15 for EA, and January 15 for ED II. Tulane will also ask you to upload your custodial parent's signed federal tax return, W-2s, and any business returns.

If you miss it: Skip the CSS Profile and you are simply not eligible for Tulane need-based gift aid, no matter how strong your FAFSA numbers are. It also blocks full consideration for Tulane's largest merit scholarships, which Tulane reviews using both need and merit.

  28. CSS Profilein about 5 months
    Northeastern University

Northeastern CSS Profile priority filing deadline

Northeastern requires the CSS Profile from anyone seeking institutional need-based aid, and its school code is 3667. The date shown here is the Regular Decision deadline, but yours is earlier if you apply early: November 15 for ED I, December 1 for Early Action, and January 15 for ED II. If you're only after federal aid and not Northeastern's own grants, you can skip the Profile and just file the FAFSA. Filing the Profile on time is what lets Northeastern send your aid offer at the same time as your admission decision.

If you miss it: Skip or delay the CSS Profile and Northeastern cannot consider you for its institutional need-based grants, which for a school with a roughly $98,000 sticker price is by far the largest source of aid you'd be giving up.

  29. CSS Profilein about 5 months
    American University

CSS Profile + FAFSA deadline (Regular Decision)

Regular Decision applicants to AU must submit both the CSS Profile and the FAFSA by February 15 for full consideration of need-based aid. Note this is a month after the January 15 application deadline, so it is easy to forget.

If you miss it: AU says applicants who miss this are unlikely to be considered for grant aid, though federal loans may still be available.

  30. CSS Profilein about 5 months
    University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

University of Michigan CSS Profile deadline

U-M requires the CSS Profile, not just the FAFSA, if you want to be considered for university grants and need-based scholarships. Use U-M's CSS code 1839. You only file it in your entering year, and if your parents are divorced or separated you'll also need to invite your noncustodial parent to complete the Household B section. The fee is waived automatically for qualifying students based on the income information you enter.

If you miss it: Skip the CSS Profile and you're only in the running for federal aid. You lose access to U-M's own institutional grants and need-based scholarships, which are usually the largest part of a Michigan aid package.

  31. CSS Profilein about 5 months
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

UNC-Chapel Hill FAFSA + CSS Profile deadline (Regular Decision)

Regular Decision applicants to UNC must submit both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile by March 1. That is six weeks after the application deadline, so put it on the calendar separately.

If you miss it: Missing March 1 removes you from consideration for all forms of UNC aid, including need-based grants.
