What a Regular Decision deadline is
Regular Decision is the main application round, and for most students it is the only one. Deadlines cluster in the first two weeks of January, decisions arrive in March and early April, and you reply to every offer you hold by the national deposit date in May. It is the round with the most places in it and the most applicants competing for them.
If you miss one: For most schools this is the last date of the cycle, so missing it means waiting a year. Some hold a later round or take rolling applications, but that is the exception rather than something to count on.

If you miss it: After December 1 you drop out of the regular round: Rutgers states that first-year applications submitted after December 1 are read on a space-available Rolling Admission basis and get a decision only after Early Action and Regular Decision applicants have been notified, and individual schools can close at any time.

If you miss it: Miss it and you're out of the fall 2027 first-year class entirely. There's no late or rolling first-year round at Wake Forest.

This is Emory's standard nonbinding round and the one most applicants use. You can apply to Emory College, Oxford College, or both on a single application, and if you're admitted to both you choose which campus to attend. Decisions arrive by April 1, which leaves you free to compare admission and aid offers from other schools before deciding. You can also apply Early Decision to one Emory campus and Regular Decision to the other.
If you miss it: Miss January 1 and you're out for fall 2027 entry. Emory has no rolling or late round for first-year applicants.

Regular Decision deadline
Clemson's Regular Decision deadline is January 1, New Year's Day, and this is also the deadline that governs scholarship consideration. The application file must be complete by January 10.
If you miss it: An application submitted after January 1 loses scholarship consideration entirely at Clemson.

Northeastern Regular Decision application deadline
Regular Decision is the standard non-binding round and gives you the most time to polish your application and let the committee see your first semester senior grades. You'll get your decision by April 1. This is also the last date to be considered for Northeastern's merit scholarships, so do not treat it as a soft target. Note that your financial aid forms are due separately on February 15.
If you miss it: Miss January 1 and you're out of the first-year admission cycle for fall 2027 entirely. You also forfeit merit scholarship consideration, which Northeastern ties explicitly to applying by this date.

Regular Decision application deadline
This is UGA's final first-year application deadline for fall entry. Decisions are typically released in mid-March, and this is also the pool that deferred Early Action applicants fall into. Your supporting documents, including transcripts and any test scores, are due by the January 15 materials deadline. If you want to be considered for the Morehead Honors College, that separate application is also due January 15.
If you miss it: Miss this and you have no path into UGA for fall 2027. There is no later first-year fall deadline, and you'd be waiting a full year or looking at spring entry instead.

This is the standard non-binding deadline. Apply Regular Decision and you're free to apply anywhere else you like and compare all your offers before deciding in April. Note that it falls on the same day as Early Decision II, so if you're weighing the two you need to make that call before January 1 rather than after.
If you miss it: Missing January 1 means you can't enroll at Vanderbilt as a first-year student for fall 2027 at all. There's no later first-year round, only a separate transfer track with a February 15, 2027 priority deadline.

Regular Decision deadline
Georgetown's Regular Decision deadline is January 1, New Year's Day, for the application, writing supplement, and all supporting credentials. Decisions are released by April 1. Plan to finish before the holidays.
If you miss it: Georgetown does not accept first-year applications for fall entry after January 1.

This is Cornell's non-binding regular round, and it's the right choice if you want to compare Cornell against other offers before committing. Your Common Application, Cornell supplement, and fee or fee waiver are due January 2, with any required portfolio or design supplement due the same day. Recommendations, transcripts, and other supporting materials have until January 19. Decisions come out in late March.
If you miss it: There is no later first-year round at Cornell, so missing January 2 means you cannot apply for fall 2027 entry at all and would have to wait a full year or pursue transfer admission later.

Johns Hopkins, Regular Decision application deadline
Hopkins lists January 2, 2027 as the Regular Decision application deadline for fall 2027 entry. This is a non-binding round, you can compare offers before deciding. The financial aid paperwork is due later, on January 15, 2027, so do not assume one submission covers both.
If you miss it: Applications after January 2, 2027 are not considered for fall 2027 first-year admission.

Northwestern Regular Decision application deadline
This is the standard, non-binding deadline for first-year applicants. You'll submit through the Common Application or Apply Coalition with Scoir along with Northwestern's own supplement and its additional writing supplements, plus your transcript, a counselor recommendation, at least one teacher recommendation, and a $75 fee or fee waiver. Northwestern is test-optional, so SAT and ACT scores are listed as optional. Decisions are released in March 2027.
If you miss it: Northwestern does not accept late first-year applications, and there's no spring entry for first-year students. Missing January 4 means you're out of the fall 2027 first-year class and would have to wait a full year or pursue transfer admission later.

Notre Dame Regular Decision application deadline
This is the standard application deadline and the last chance to apply to Notre Dame for fall 2027. Decisions come out in mid to late March, and if you're admitted you have until May 1 to confirm. Your supporting documents, including recommendations and any SlideRoom arts submissions, are due January 15, so don't treat January 4 as the finish line for everything. Watch out for the date sitting right after New Year, because winter break is when most people lose track of it.
If you miss it: There's no later round. Miss January 4 and you're out of the fall 2027 class entirely, and your next opportunity would be applying as a transfer student after a year or two somewhere else.

Duke Regular Decision application deadline
This is the standard, non-binding deadline, so you can apply here and still compare Duke against every other offer you get in the spring. You'll apply through the Common Application, and Duke charges an $85 application fee unless you request a fee waiver through the Common App. Duke is test-optional for this cycle, so you won't be at a disadvantage if you leave SAT or ACT scores off. Decisions come out in late March or early April.
If you miss it: Duke does not accept late first-year applications, so missing this ends your chance of entering in fall 2027 as a first-year student.

Regular Decision application deadline
This is the standard, non-binding way to apply to Boston College, and it's what most applicants use. You'll get your decision by April 1 and then have until May 1 to decide, so you can compare BC against your other offers and their financial aid packages. Note that the arts supplement through SlideRoom has its own earlier cutoff, and anything submitted late won't be reviewed.
If you miss it: Miss this and you can't apply for fall 2027 entry at all. BC does not offer a rolling or late first-year round, so you'd be waiting a full year.

Regular Decision application deadline
This is the last chance to apply to Miami for fall 2027 and it's completely non-binding. Decisions come out on April 1, and every Regular Decision applicant is automatically considered for merit scholarships with no extra application. Watch the January 5 date carefully because your financial aid materials are due the same day.
If you miss it: Miss it and you can't apply to UM for fall 2027 at all. There's no rolling or late first-year round.

Regular Decision application deadline
This is W&M's standard, non-binding application deadline, and it's the route most applicants take. Your Common App has to be in by midnight in your time zone on Jan. 5, though transcripts, recommendations and test scores may follow after. Decisions are posted to your Application Status Portal by April 1. Because it isn't binding, you can compare W&M's offer against other schools before deciding.
If you miss it: There's no later round after this one for fall 2027 entry, so missing Jan. 5 means waiting a full year. W&M will consider extension requests only when circumstances were genuinely outside your control, emailed to admission@wm.edu.

Be careful with the date, because January 5 is unusually early compared with the January 15 that many schools use, and it lands right after winter break.
If you miss it: NYU does not take late first-year applications for fall entry, so missing January 5 means waiting a full year and applying for fall 2028 instead.

This is BU's standard, non-binding deadline and the one most applicants use. You apply through the Common App, and your CSS Profile and FAFSA are due on the exact same day, which catches out a lot of students who assume the aid forms come later. You'll hear back in late March and then have until May 1 to decide. BU doesn't run a rolling or late round for first-year students, so this really is the last call.
If you miss it: Your application won't be considered for fall 2027 entry at all. There's no later first-year round, so you'd be looking at waiting a full year or coming in later as a transfer.

UVA's Regular Decision applications are due January 5, right after the winter holidays, so plan to have everything finished before break. Regular Decision is non-binding.

Georgia Tech Regular Decision application deadline
This is the last date you can apply to Georgia Tech for first-year admission, and it's open to both Georgia and non-Georgia students. Georgia Tech says the review process is identical to Early Action, so applying now doesn't hurt your admission chances, but it does rule you out of merit scholarships. If you apply Regular Decision or were deferred from Early Action, you have to send an updated transcript showing your fall senior grades. Documents and self-reported test scores are both due January 22.
If you miss it: This is a hard stop. Georgia Tech states that applications not completed by the Regular Decision document and test score deadline will be closed, so a late or incomplete file means no admission decision at all for this entry year.
